CBD is the new craze! Even more so after the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill. You see it or hear about it every time you turn around. If you are one of the many people who aren’t exactly sure about it, you are in the right place! So, what is CBD and why has it become so popular?

CBD or Cannabidiol is naturally occurring in the flower of the Cannabis plant. It is safe and non-addicting, often used for pain but can benefit you and your family in so many other ways as well!

So, will it get me high?
Absolutely not! It is closely related to THC because they are both naturally occurring compounds found in the Cannabis plant. The difference is, they act in different ways and on different receptors of the brain.

In fact, CBD can be used to counteract the effects of THC meaning if you get super high, you can use CBD to bring you back down.

Forms of CBD
You can find CBD in many different forms and marketed for different purposes.

Some popular CBD products include:
Topical ointments and creams-
These can be used for pain and inflammation.
Edibles- You can find CBD gummies and other candies like lollipops, mints and hard candy; as well as CBD candy bars and drinks infused with CBD. Candy edibles take effect immediately and ware off quicker, where chocolates and other gastrointestinal edibles take 2-3 hours to take effect and last up to 8 hours.
Vapes- You can find CBD waxes and dabs to vape as well as oil.
Pills/capsules- These are popularly used for sleep-aid, anxiety, pain, among so many other things. This is a very popular form of consumption.
Pet products- You can often find CBD products for cats and dogs. These products are for a variety of things typically the same reasons we use them.

Is it legal?
This is a tricky question. Since the 2018 Farm Bill was passed, CBD products derived from Hemp Cannabis by licensed growers is legal in all 50 states on a federal level.
CBD from marijuana is legal in the 10 states where marijuana is legal recreationally and medically. Those states are California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Alaska, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington.

Although it is legal on the federal level, some states still have restrictions. In Idaho, Nebraska, and South Dakota there are restrictions on all Cannabis and Cannabis derived products so even hemp derived CBD may not be legal in these states. Check with your state to find out.

Benefits of CBD
CBD has many benefits and is an extremely useful all-natural medication. There is still so much research to be done but this is a truly amazing natural product!

It can be used to:
Reduce anxiety and depression
Relieve nausea/upset stomach
Help you sleep.
Relieve pain
Combat seizures
Reduce the risk of developing diabetes

This is just a short list of the amazing benefits CBD has to offer.

Where to get CBD
In most places, you can find CBD products everywhere. I see them at gas stations, tobacco stores, head shops, and online (be sure to research the company you are ordering from before trusting them with your payment information!!!).
Since the 2018 Farm Bill, it has become widely available in most places.

Takeaways
As you see, CBD is a super useful substance derived from the flowers of the Cannabis plant. It can benefit you in many ways, so it is great for everyone!
If you think you may benefit from the use of CBD, research the best places to buy it online and read reviews before making your decision. Reviews tell you everything you need to know!
