Have you ever seen a cardinal and wondered what it signified?

The theories are as numerous as the people who are willing to give their opinions.

Gran told me that the birds meant that great love was in my future.

She spent fifty years deeply in love.

Twenty years later, my two-year-old passed away.

I wholly bought into the theory that cardinals were loved ones coming to visit.

Their bright chirping call gave me hope in that time of deepest sorrow.

My little boy was making himself part of the family he'd left behind.

My Virginia neighbors told me that cardinals signify the inches of snow to expect.

There were several cardinals in the yard the day I moved here.

Two weeks snowed in, I might become a believer.

Another theory all my own.

A melancholy representation after many visits from this majestic red muse.

Many times, these songbirds of love or weather forecasters have sung to me.

Each visit followed by the announcement of another loved one gone.

Visits were made at the passing of my mother, brother, son, and best friend.

The final catalyst of my developing revelation.

These red-winged marvels are not loved ones coming to visit.

Rather the conduit for which they say goodbye.

Nature provides us with an abundance of beautiful opportunities to relate our lives, and deaths to. It is amazing the peace and serenity we can experience when we allow nature to provide us all she has to enjoy and be good stewards of. Wonderful observations Mary!
