THE WOUNDS

I think about the past year

and my throat starts burning,

constrictng threateningly.

I wish it didn't.

I don't want to feel so negative

about the year that brought upon

some of the best changes

of my life.

But I think about you

and the wounds open up,

barely healed,

consistently scabbing and reopening.

Why can't they heal?

What can I do?

How can I change?

I look for ways to make this stop.

I put bandaids over the wounds,

but they keep falling off.

I just want them to stick,

to stay,

to protect me from the pain.

I search for ways,

but have yet to find anything.

Can you help me?

This is about Wordsworth who coined the phrase: emotion recollected in tranquility: "The senses are overwhelmed by this experience; the "spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings" leaves an individual incapable of articulating the true nature ... of the event. It is only when this emotion is "recollected in tranquility" that the poet can assemble words to do the instance justice."

"Emotion recollected in tranquility"...I love it. Thanks so much for mentioning this!
