She looks at her phone,

Waiting for the screen to light up.

Waiting for the infamous "ding" to go off.

But it doesn't.

She wipes the tears from her eyes,

Pulling the cover over her head just a little bit more,

To shield herself from the world,

To crawl back into her shell.

She stares at the ceiling

Replaying the previous day scene by scene,

Wondering where she went wrong,

What she had said.

She hears the "ding"

And bolts up grabbing her phone.

It isn't him.

She throws her phone back on the bed,

Her shoulders beginning to shake again.

The cycle beings again,

One that seemingly never ends.

She goes out,

She comes home.

And somewhere in between,

She ruins it again and again.

One day the cycle might never stop.

Every once and now and then this is me for a second. For some reason this reminds me of a woman that was married, but the way she went about communicating drove a wedge between her and her husband, and heleft.

Cycles are definitely something that many people get caught up in. This was an interesting depiction. I think some descriptions around these lines could make this a stronger poem. Thanks for sharing!
