My body is hallowed ground,

Claimed and coveted by others,

Prayers do nothing in place of an exorcism.

I bar myself in with wrought iron,

And salt my skin with tears,

I smoke out the memories one haze for another.

I try to burn the bones,

And sear the earth,

Banish the ghosts that haunt me.
