I wanted to grow up so
bad but I forgot growing
older meant they did too.
I forgot that slowly time would
take them away.
I forgot that one day I'd
have to find my own way.
I forgot that one day it would
never be the same.
I forgot that one day I'd
have to visit your grave.
I wanted to grow up so bad
but I forgot eventually
everything ends.
Eventually we all....

    My grandparents also raised me and I feel like we have that little bit of understanding other people our age might not, because our "parents" leave us far sooner. Beautiful piece.

      Lol, thank you! My kids always tell me they can't wait till there "grown-ups", I just smile shake my head and say "Oh just wait!" lol.

    I really feel this poem. I miss my grandpa sooo much. He was my "dad" too.
