Em sighed as she closed the book, after carefully saving the part she left off with, with a bookmark. She wished wholeheartedly that she could have concentrated enough to finish the chapter she was on. She genuinely wanted to finish, but her mind was elsewhere. Her mind was preoccupied with the text she had received earlier. Mark, who used to spend time with the same group of friends as she did, had been texting with her, over the last several weeks. It had been mostly talk about normal things, such as what they were up to, movies, music, etc.. However, the texts had been exclusively a friendly way of writing, with no hint of flirting, at least that's what she thought. But not this text. This text. My God, this text broke her heart. It's not that she didn't like him. It's not that she couldn't see herself being happy with him. God, she couldn't even really tell anyone why it bothered her that he wants to take it to the next level and go on a date. That's just it, though. It does bother her. Not because it's him, but something else that she couldn't put her finger on.
