THE TULIP TREE

Before my sister’s high school graduation, we stood

alongside my mother’s Pinto. My brother chose to buckle in,

driving straight and narrow. My sister hopped right

then left to end up staring at cancer’s cemetery.

I walked through snow, past the shrieking kids

sledding, to stand next to the tulip tree, survivor

of many winters.

Thank you - I love writing flash - difficult but sometimes less is more!
