I've been watching this circus of the Democrats vs Republicans in the Kavanaugh vetting so to speak. What a joke on both sides but there is something irks me the most. This accusation on Kavanaugh and the way it's being handled. Look I understand people think this is a last-ditch effort by Democrats, I also understand we are in the era of the "Me to Movement," but doesn't this deserve to be seen through for the sake of all parties involved? In this article, I will make some common-sense observations that need to be brought to life, so I hope before forming an opinion you at least read the whole thing.

Point 1

Let me make the first common sense observation. No one deserves death threats period! Whether it's Kavanaugh, his kids, his wife, and/or Dr. Ford. I don't know why people think this is an answer to this or will change things. It also does not change the fact that all this has been made public and Kavanaugh will or will not be confirmed. So, the people who are making threats layoff, it just makes you look like an asshole.

Point 2

Republicans are blaming Democrats for leaking this. How do they know? Let's think hypothetically for a minute. What if this did actually happen and Kavanaugh remembers more than he is letting on. Then when he found out his accuser wanted to remain anonymous so he leaked the name for revenge. Another theory is what if one of Dr. Ford's friends who watched a friend being bashed on the news took a stand and leaked it. The reality is we don't know who leaked it and may never know. So, stop pointing fingers people and just find the truth.

Point 3

Look this accusation may or may not be true but in all honesty, don't Republicans and Democrats want to confirm Kavanaugh with a clear conscious. Whether it's a stall tactic by Democrats or not, this is still an accusation that needs to be investigated and proved false or true. By making negative comments on the accusation creates a discredited platform to all women's claims to any type of abuse, assault, or sexual harassment. Just like Trump's rhetoric creating a platform of prejudice toward immigrants and people of different races. I am not saying that is what is intended but that is what is perceived.

Point 4

To support point 4 let's take Conway's comments on Dr. Ford's list of circumstances she will testify. Conway claimed to Chris Cuomo she is aware of Dr. Ford's laundry list of demands. Why would you call it a "Laundry List?" Those words give the perception that you not only consider her requests lame but dirty or an annoyance. Look we should be treating people with the utmost respect regardless of what has happened or if we agree with what is going on or not. It's called being a decent human being. The fact you are a public servant makes this more of a requirement then just a suggested expectation.

Point 5

Trying to discredit something because it possibly happened years ago or like Conway says back in 82. Really? So, I am assuming all the kids who were molested as a kid by preachers’ years and years ago should be brought to light either according to your rationale. It never ceases to amaze me how just because someone says something happened long ago that they are mistaken, "Orrin Hatch." Yes, there is always a possibility but you get to say that has not spoken with the accuser, possible witnesses or evaluating any potential evidence.

Point 6

For those of you who say why did she wait so long to say anything and why didn't she say anything sooner, let me just help you with that misguided question. I could say if you as a man were raped, sexually harassed or violated in any way, would you come forward right away? I mean the stereotypically answer is no because we are men and we would not want something like that getting out. Well yes, but it the same for women however for most of you men you don't see the correlation because you may have never been a victim. So, let me help you understand on more realistic to your scenario. How many of you men would tell your buddies if you were let's say impotence, have a small penis, low sperm count or even are suffering from erectile dysfunction? Not many of you because of the stigma it can represent. They believe it makes you less of a man, that there is something wrong with "Your boys" as they call it.

It's embarrassing, isn't it? Well now apply that same feeling to a woman who gets the stigma of being a slut, being a liar, being easy, stupid, just wanting attention, or just not believed. On top of that having to discuss every detail of the experience to strangers not just once but several times. Giving them a visual of what happened to you while being violated. Then having to deal with retaliation, death threats, and your world is turned upside down. It's terrifying for anyone.

Point 7

For those of you who say he is a decent guy with a prestigious reputation. Yeah, I agree but so did people like Harvey Weinstein, Rupert Murdoch, and Matt Lauer. Here is the reality for you people, you may know something but you don't know what they are like in private. You don't know their sexual habits. For all, you know they could enjoy being tied up and whipped. At the same time have you ever experienced this person while they are drunk? People can behave very differently and do very stupid things while intoxicated or under the influence of something that they would never do it sober. So, let's consider someone's reputation but not use it as a justification that the person would never do a certain behavior. Even an honest man can lie.

Point 8

Kavanaugh said he was not at the party. Okay? What party is he referring too because there was no mention of what party it was? Has he never been to a party? The fact he makes that statement to me tells me there some type of familiarity there. At the same time, the person said he was drunk. How many of drank and can't remember what we did the night before? It happens. This doesn't mean he did it or didn't do it. He simply just could not remember because he was inebriated.

Point 9

Here is another common sensor for you. Why would Republicans not want to hear from the witnesses or people on Dr. Ford's behalf but immediately with insane timing had, and read a list of 65 women who defend Kavanaugh and speak to his character? I mean you bitch and moan about Democrats not coming to the table in a bipartisan effort but I see this and wonder what your definition of bipartisan is. I wonder if you even know what it is if you can't be fair to both Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford. So, my common sensor for you is both parties need to put differences aside right now and get to the bottom of this without any resentment toward each other.

Point 10 and final point

Our elected officials' behavior during these whole proceedings has been not only unfortunate but eye-opening to the American people. Why lessons were not learned from the Anita Hill proceedings is beyond me. All these elected officials' men and women know how they should be behaving and they are making not only a disgrace of our democracy but of the American people because we elected them. We expect you to take every allegation seriously whether you believe it's a stall tactic or not. We expect you to follow all laws and proceedings to find the truth not how you feel about it or believe to be true. So, I say to our elected officials, do your job or we will do it for you by electing someone who will.

Hi - I'm going to put up a piece around Tuesday that you might want to look at regarding the difference between traumatic and nontraumatic memories. As a therapist, I am appalled at what is happening. Thanks for the piece.

Sure I am about to post some additional ones later. I do know f what you speak of I have a BA in psychology but I also deal with my own issues. thank you for liking my story. I am trying to get people's attention on both sides and bring back the word "common" in common sense because right now it does not seem so common anymore. It should be called "uncommon sense" LOL I know some my writing is brutal but it brings a shock value that gets people's attention and it seems to also be a new norm for the younger generations. If it gets people's attention they may just sit up and listen.

"By making negative comments on the accusation creates a discredited platform to all women's claims to any type of abuse, assault, or sexual harassment." That was a great point. Thank you for providing your observations and commentary on this topic and being an ally for people who are victims of sexual assault. I found the outcome of this whole political circus to be very disappointing in the end, but I hope it will help our society make progress and do better in the future. I wrote a political poem on the confirmation at the time that you might like to read.
