TIGERS AMONG US

Mystic gods of Pharoah's tombs

Watching through slitted reptilian eyes

Lounging in upholstered jungles and rooms

Stalking fak prey their humans supply.

Deceptively languid, draped with ease,

One slitted eye, one pricked ear raised --

Then off to the chase, swift as the breeze

Demanding respect but never our praise.

Whiskers swept forward, eyes big as orbs

Honing in with precise and deadly intent

The pounce, flash of fangs, razor claws and feline force

The kill complete, the hunter now content.

Purring and kneading on legs and laps

Head-butting, leg-rubbing affectionate yet

Playful, claws-shielded paw on skin taps

Mini tigers we've made our pets.
