"The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in Him, and all the upright in heart shall glory."-Psalm 64:10

I love reading Psalms! This psalm is titled, "To the Cheif Musician, A Psalm of David." Many of David's psalms concerns a crisis that made him cry out to God. This story starts with David pleading to God, to hear his prayer, and to preserve his life because he was in fear of the enemy. He knew how dangerous his foes were and felt powerless against them. Unfortunately, it was unequal warfare. For his enemies were not in the open, but undercover; plotting for David's elimination. As a warrior, if David could see and confront his enemy one-on-one, he would stand a chance. But, since, his enemy was like a hidden sniper; to be put down by an arrow he never saw coming was of great concern. David didn't know how to make them stop, and so he prayed and asked God to keep him hidden from the uprising workers of iniquity. "Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows-bitter words." David's enemies didn't shoot literal arrows, but bitter words. The "secret plot" against David consisted of words and lies against him. In other words, this wasn't the case of words entirely hurting; this was an active conspiracy to kill David. To frame an innocent man and push him towards his death. Believe it or not, the mouth and the words one chooses are VERY powerful! These "tongues" and "arrows" can either bless someone's life or curse them. Without warning, David's enemies attacked in secret, without the courage to say things to his face. David was defenseless. His enemies didn't fear him, nor God, for, "Who will see them?" The children of darkness are wise in their generation and keep their spirits up. Each one has a cheering word to say to his fellow villain, while good men are frequently being discouraged. Everyone will see them because God WILL use them to teach all men a lesson. Now and days, it's pretty easy to conclude that our world is growing more and more corrupt each day. We regularly hear of "secret plots," "rebellion," "bitter words," and "shrewd scheme(s)." When one chooses to harden the heart, he/she is prone to do evil, and what's worse is encouraging oneself and one another in it. Just like in David's times, his enemies were proud of their evil plotting. They would boast about there sins and show the dark depth of their thoughts and heart. Having disbelief of God's knowledge of all things is at the bottom of every wicked being. Despite the wicked prospering, David and his people believe that they were all hidden and safe from harm because they know that one thing was certain and that was the judgment of God. Fellow Christians, just because God doesn't respond immediately, doesn't mean He has led you astray, for God's delay is not His approval. His timing is perfect, and a day is coming when God will deal with all "workers of iniquity." Those who love cursing, it shall come upon them. The Bible says, "God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly they shall be wounded." God was well-armed and David knew that God was his defense. This scripture tells us that the judgment of God comes upon the wicked unexpectedly, without any warning, "suddenly." The enemies think everything is fine until they are wounded. They may have cursed David, but God will ALWAYS find a way to make their own words their ruin. His enemies will fall in the very way they had hoped to have trapped David."All those who see this shall flee away, for their own tongues have fallen upon themselves!" The key phrase in this psalm is the next Bible verse, "All men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God." Those who behold this shall understand and observe God's hands in all. We are not to profit from the freedom of His judgment. We are to rejoice in the Lord and not be glad of the misery and ruin of the fellow being. We are to be glorified in God and His Word for being fulfilled; the innocent pleaded fruitfully! We rejoice in not men, nor ourselves, nor our wisdom, strength, riches, or righteousness, but in Christ, for what He is to us and has done for us. We know the day is coming when "every knee will bow before God and confess His Majesty." David was confident that God would use His dealings against these wicked men as a lesson to others. As, we remember previously, "Who will see them?" The answer is, EVERYONE, WILL SEE THEM! Those who might have been fearless in sin shall be made to tremble and to stand in awe of the righteous Judge."God has highly exalted Him and given Him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Not only will trusting in the Lord bring joy, but it also increases faith. God has protected his servant! God is worthy of trust for faithfully answering David's prayer. This builds the faith of the righteous, for God WILL NEVER forget His promises. "The Lord is not slow in keeping His promises, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." If you ask God for something, just like David had asked Him to preserve him from his panic, your prayer is more than answered! That means that joy can already be expressed since the future holds judgment. This is a great kind of joy! Especially, when being faced at the worst that's one's overwhelming best. Now, some will confess with a feeling of great happiness and triumph, while others will confess with feelings of anxiety, dismay, and distress, and an expression of very strong disapproval. Whoever is reading this, Christian, or not, let me just say that God has a plan for you. The Lord declares, "For I know the plans I have for you . . . plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God loves us! He cares for us. He wants all His people to be saved and come to His Word; His truth! I know which side I'm choosing and I can't wait for the day I'm in front of His presence! I've started the celebration already by worshipping Him with a heart of gratitude and hope, especially meditating on that pleasant thought of flying up to heaven and spending eternity with Him. I'm going to be "glad in the Lord, and trust in Him." "Wherefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in My presence only, but now much more in My absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Now that's the glory! Won't you join me?
